This application is for students requesting Emergency Aid. To get access to the emergency aid application in your Financial Aid Portal, you must first speak with an Enrollment Services Advisor. If you are an International Student, please contact International Student & Scholar Services at iss@tamu.edu. Please include “Emergency Aid” in the subject line of your email.  
 
Scholarships & Financial Aid has limited institutional funding to award for emergency aid. To qualify students must have exhausted all other resources (financial aid, including loans; payment plans; assistance from family/friends; other personal resources). This funding is not intended to replace or supplement existing financial aid for regular educational expenses. Emergency aid is a one-time resource.

Eligibility Requirements

• Applicants must have an unforeseen and immediate financial hardship resulting from an emergency, accident, or other unexpected critical incident.
• The expense must be unexpected, unforeseen, and the urgent nature unavoidable.
• Applicants must be currently enrolled students.
• All other resources, including loans, must have been considered and are insufficient, unavailable, or not available in a timely manner.
• Only one application per student per year will be considered.

If you or your family are experiencing extreme changes to your financial situation (i.e., loss of employment, medical expenses, separation/divorce), we may be able to adjust your FAFSA to reflect your current situation.

Visit the Helpful Links tab in your Financial Aid Portal. From there, select My FAFSA information has changed and complete the survey by clicking "Submit information".

I need money to help me pay rent, buy food, books or other educational related expenses (including Aggie Rings).

Short-Term Loans (STL) must be repaid in a one to twelve-month period.

If you are a student and you meet SNAP eligibility requirements, you may be eligible for SNAP if you meet one of the following exemptions:

• Are under age 18 or are age 50 or older.
• Have a physical or mental disability.
• Work at least 20 hours a week in paid employment.
• Participate in a state or federally financed work study program.
• Participate in an on-the-job training program.
• Care for a child under the age of 6.
• Care for a child age 6 to 11 and lack the necessary child care enabling you to attend school and work 20 hours a week or participate in work study.
• Are a single parent enrolled full-time in college and taking care of a child under 12.
• Receive Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) assistance.
• Are assigned to, placed in, or self-placed in a college or other institution of higher education through:
  • A SNAP Employment and Training (SNAP E&T) program;
  • Certain other E&T programs for low-income households, which are operated by a state or local government and have an equivalent component to SNAP E&T;
  • A program under Title I of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014 (WIOA) (PL 113-128);
  • A Trade Adjustment Assistance Program under Section 236 of the Trade Act of 1974.

Pocket Pantries
The purpose of the Pocket Pantry program is to provide temporary relief to Texas A&M students in need who are experiencing food insecurity by providing immediate access to non-perishable food and toiletries before directing them to additional resources of support on campus. Pocket Pantries are located across campus. Look for the Pocket Pantry symbol.
