Request for these items does NOT necessarily indicate that you will be requested to interview with the Craig and Galen Brown Foundation.

To maintain eligibility once the Craig and Galen Brown Foundation scholarship, you must:

• Maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPR and a 3.25 semester GPR.
• Enroll full time each semester (minimum 12 hours) at Texas A&M University.
• Attend the annual Brown Foundation dinner which takes place each fall semester on campus.

Brown EnMed Scholarship

The E2EnMed Early Assurance Program affords incoming (fall semester) freshman students the ability to receive conditional admission to the EnMed program, a partnership between the College of Engineering, College of Medicine, and Houston Methodist Hospital. EnMed graduates receive joint M.D. and Master of Engineering degrees in four years after completion of their undergraduate engineering degree at Texas A&M University.

The Brown Foundation offers a Brown Foundation EnMed Scholarship opportunity to incoming freshman students that includes:

(1) an undergraduate Brown Foundation Scholarship for National Merit Semifinalists/President’s Endowed Scholarship recipients (Valued at approximately $100,000)

(2) a graduate Brown Foundation Scholarship for the EnMed program in which students receive both a Masters in Engineering and Doctor of Medicine degree in four years (Valued at $60,000)

(3) additional scholarships/funding for participation in a 10-week Houston Methodist Summer Undergraduate Research Internship and funding for the two-week Brown Foundation Summer Leadership Program near Florence, Italy (Valued at approximately $10,000)

The Brown Foundation's EnMed Program director interviews and selects between 15-23 Brown Foundation E2EnMed Early Assurance Program candidates. Conditional admission to the EnMed Program is granted by the Texas A&M College of Medicine admissions committee.

E2EnMed Early Assurance Program candidates must pursue an undergraduate engineering degree to be considered eligible for the EnMed Program. Eligible programs include but are not limited to interdisciplinary engineering, biomedical engineering, mechanical engineering, nuclear engineering, electrical engineering, materials science, and computer science.

Students interested in the Brown Foundation E2EnMed Early Assurance Program should indicate their interest on their application to Texas A&M University by answering the custom scholarship question on the ApplyTexas or CommonApp application.

Brown HMRI Medical Research Internship Scholarship

Ten Brown Scholars in an undergraduate STEM program will be selected by the Brown Foundation for participation in the 10-week summer internship program at the world renown Houston Methodist Research Institute ("HMRI") where they will be paired with a faculty member and conduct research in their field of interest. Selected Brown Scholars will receive a HMRI internship scholarship from the Brown Foundation.

Global Summer Internship Scholarship with Bray International, Inc.

Brown Scholars are eligible for Global Summer Internships at Bray International Inc.

• Brown Scholars receive automatic eligibility for the Mays Business Honors Program, Brown Foundation Engineering Honors program, and University Honors Program.
• Brown Scholars receive automatic eligibility to apply for the Texas A&M Champs Fitzhugh Italy trip for 27 incoming National Merit freshman.
• Brown Scholars receive automatic eligibility to interview with either of: College of Science, College of Engineering, or College of Ag & Life Sciences (5 positions per respective College) for conditional acceptance to the Texas A & M College of Medicine (15 total positions). Acceptance does not limit the ability to apply to other medical schools.
• Students majoring in STEM disciplines are offered research opportunities with professors commencing in the spring semester of their freshman year.
• Graduating seniors attend a spring Bar-B-Que celebration at Brown Top Ranch.
• Brown Scholars attend the annual Brown Foundation dinner on campus each fall semester along with the Texas A&M System Chancellor, University President, members of the Board of Regents, Provosts, Deans, faculty, administrators, and parents of graduating seniors.
• Guaranteed on-campus housing for freshman majoring in engineering and business, and for Corps of Cadets members and University Scholars.
• Incoming freshman will be assigned an upper classman Brown Scholar mentor.
• Meetings with the Founder, Craig Brown, and other advisors throughout the school year and support, as needed from Brown Foundation members and former Brown Scholars.
• Continued support and guidance from the Brown Foundation after graduation. The Brown Foundation makes a lifelong commitment to Brown Scholars.

• Brown Foundation scholarships for undergraduates are four-year awards. You must meet renewal eligibility requirements each year to continue receiving your scholarship for future years.
• Brown Foundation EnMed Scholarships are four-year graduate scholarships for students receiving the Brown Foundation Scholarship as an undergraduate and chosen as one of the 15 high school seniors conditionally admitted to the EnMed Program.

Apply using the Common App. You must complete the admission and scholarship portions to be considered. You must also provide consent for application data to be used for scholarship consideration at the time of application. If you decline, you will not be considered for scholarship opportunities through Texas A&M University. Once your application is submitted, it cannot be revised.

Texas A&M University’s Scholarship and Financial Aid Office and the Brown Foundation will review all applications. Applicants invited for interview will be contacted by the Brown Foundation.

Deadline

Applications are preferred to be received by October 10, but in no case later than December 1. If the deadline falls on a weekend, the application will remain open until 11:59 PM (CST) on the following Monday.

• Demonstrated drive and grit to achieve personal and professional goals
• Expectation of continued academic achievement and campus and community involvement at the college level

You must complete the admission and scholarship portions of either the Common App by December 1 of your senior year. There is no benefit to completing one over the other.

The scholarship application is REQUIRED to move forward in the review process. No exceptions.

You are encouraged to proactively seek out 2 letters of recommendation and upload them to your Applicant Information System (aka AIS portal; aka Admissions portal). Two letters of recommendation are required for consideration.

Yes, both Texas residents and non-residents are eligible for consideration.

You must complete the Common App by December 1 of your senior year.

Complete Apply Texas and CommonApp applications are reviewed shortly after December 1. A short list is developed and students are contacted to provide additional documentation to include in their application packets to be forwarded to the Brown Foundation. Students not moving forward in review will not be contacted.

Complete application packets are forwarded to the foundation for review by Mr. Brown. Some applicants are selected for an interview. Final selections are made after the interview stage.

All students under consideration should know of their final status by mid-February.

Students selected to move forward in the review process will be contacted via email in mid-December regarding the further steps in the process. Students NOT selected to move forward after the initial review of applications will NOT be contacted.

All communication will be sent to the student’s email address used on their admissions application.

No, the Craig & Galen Brown Foundation Scholarship is only available to students at Texas A&M in College Station.

Yes, as long as you complete the scholarship application portion of your Apply Texas or CommonApp application, you will be considered for other university-level scholarships.

If you are selected to move forward in the review process for the Terry Foundation scholarship, you may participate in that process, however, you may not receive both the Brown and Terry scholarships if selected.

To maintain eligibility once the Craig and Galen Brown Foundation scholarship, you must:

• Maintain a 3.5 cumulative GPR and a 3.25 semester GPR.
• Enroll full time each semester (minimum 12 hours) at Texas A&M University.
• Attend the annual Brown Foundation dinner which takes place each fall semester on campus.

Participation in an honors program is not required, however, most Brown scholars participate in the University Honors program or an academic college-based program (ex. Engineering Honors Program).

All Brown Foundation Scholars are required to live on-campus your freshman year.

The Craig & Galen Brown Foundation scholarship requires you to maintain a cumulative 3.5 GPR and complete at least 30 semester credit hours per year at Texas A&M. (Dual credit, transfer credit, and/or credit by AP exam will count towards this requirement.) Also, you will be expected to attend an annual event in the fall each year for all Brown scholars.

Academic progress is reviewed each semester. If you fail to continue to meet the requirements for the scholarship, your scholarship could be reduced or cancelled for future terms at the discretion of the foundation.

You may defer your Brown scholarships while you are away from campus on a co-op or internship. The payments will be deferred for use in a future semester.

If you graduate before using all 8 payments of your Brown scholarships, you may continue to utilize the remaining payments if you enroll in a graduate or professional program at Texas A&M University. Full time enrollment is required regardless if you are an undergraduate (12 hours) or begin a graduate program (9 hours).

If you complete your undergraduate degree and continue your education at a different institution or begin employment, you will NOT be able to receive any future payment.

If you are enrolled less than full time (12 hours for undergraduates) due to your final semester before graduation, your payments will be allowed to pay out at a prorated amount. Payment will not be released until you have applied for graduation through the Registrar’s Office.
